Woman claims sexual assault at Rosenberg Jail

ROSENBERG, Texas – Jessica Reyes can’t even talk about what happened without crying, visibly upset about what she says happened to her during a three-night stay in jail.

Reyes is making serious accusations, claiming she was sexually assaulted by a Rosenberg Police Department worker while incarcerated at the jail.

“He took me into the break room where the cameras weren’t able to see us, she told KPRC. “He asked me to turn around and I asked him, ’For what?’ and he said he was going to pat me down the way he wanted to.”

Reyes said that’s when the worker sexually assaulted her.

KPRC doesn’t typically identify victims in cases alleging sexual assault, but Reyes wanted her name and face used because she said she had nothing to hide and wanted the story told.

“I was trying to scream for help but he was covering my mouth so I couldn’t,” Reyes said.

She also claims the worker told her he would be better prepared when he came back for his next shift and bring a condom so the two could have intercourse.

The assault is alleged to have happened Sunday and Reyes said she tried to file a complaint but no one came to her cell to talk with her until Tuesday. She was sent to the hospital where a rape examination was done, and then investigators sent her to the Fort Bend County jail instead of the city jail.

“They asked me if I wanted to press charges and I told them ‘Yes,’ I’m going to file a lawsuit against them," she said.

Reyes is from Austin and was in town visiting her nephews. She said she was pulled over by a Rosenberg police officer because they thought she had taken the kids without permission. Reyes said it was a mix-up, but she wound up being arrested and charged with resisting arrest.

“It was a whole misunderstanding,” she said. “I don’t deserve any of this.”
