Information on county, municipal courts

HOUSTON – Here is the latest information on municipal and county courts in the Houston area due to inclement weather Friday:

Jury Assembly for Harris County Courts has been cancelled for today, Friday, January 24, 2014.  Jurors summoned for duty today do not need to appear and do not need to reschedule.

County courthouses will be open.

City of Houston Municipal Courts will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday. Individuals scheduled for court at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. or jury duty at 9 a.m., should arrive at 10 a.m.

The Houston Municipal Courts released the following statement:

"Individuals scheduled for court on Friday at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m., who were not able to appear, have until 9 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, to appear in person to request a reset. Warrants will be issued the following business day. Individuals scheduled for court at 1 p.m. or after are expected to appear on Friday. It is important to note that if an individual fails to appear for court for Friday's afternoon dockets, an arrest warrant will be issued on Friday."

All Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's offices will be closed on Friday. Residents may also visit their website to pay property taxes, learn about voter registration and online vehicle renewal registration. All offices will re-open on Monday at regular business hours.

All other court cases scheduled at 10 a.m. or later on Friday will begin at their regularly scheduled times.
