Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in an early morning crash.

Officials said around 3 a.m. Friday, a husband and wife were in an SUV traveling northbound on Spur 330 when they took the exit ramp for Interstate 10 westbound.

Authorities said the husband was speeding when the SUV lost control, hit a guard rail and rolled.

Police said the man was pinned under the SUV. He was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in extremely critical condition.

The wife was not hurt.

Harris County investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
