HOUSTON -

The Houston FBI tells Local 2 Investigates hundreds of parents have come forward worried their kids may have been sexually abused by an international schools teacher who worked all over the world.

Local 2 Investigates first reported on the case of William Vahey, of South Carolina, last month.

Vahey, 64, taught at international schools for more than 30 years before a staff member at an American school in Nicaragua turned images of Vahey allegedly sexually molesting young boys over to the FBI. He was supposedly fired and allowed to return to the United States before the images were given to the FBI. Vahey killed himself after the FBI started investigating.

Vahey was not from Houston, but an FBI spokeswoman has said it is possible he had contact with children of Houston-area families.

Vahey was a teacher at the American Nicaraguan School in Pista Suburbana, Managua, Nicaragua from Aug. 12, 2013, until March 11, 2014.

Court documents reviewed by Local 2 Investigates show Vahey admitted to a co-worker that he molested underage kids his whole life.

Before teaching in Nicaragua, FBI Spokesperson Shauna Dunlap says he taught in London, England; Caracas, Venezuela; Jakarta, Indonesia; Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Athens, Greece; Ahwaz and Tehran, Iran; Madrid, Spain, and Beirut, Lebanon.

He is suspected of drugging his victims. Agents worry young boys who took overnight field trips with him might not know they were victims.

The Associated Press first reported Tuesday the number of parents who called asking for information about the case.
