HOUSTON -

With just a few days before Christmas, the holidays arrived a little early for some very deserving children.

KPRC Local 2, the Houston Fire Department and thousands of people from around the city joined together to meet the needs of the less fortunate in our community by donating to the Operation Stocking Stuffer toy drive.

According to the Houston Fire Department, more than 500,000 individual toys were donated, and because of the generous donations, hundreds of families and thousands of children will be able to unwrap gifts under the tree.

Organizers said Friday’s toy distribution could not have happened without the dozens of volunteers sorting gifts and handing them out.

There are no requirements to receive gifts, with the exception of showing photo identification. The doors opened at 8 a.m. and the distribution will last until all of the toys are handed out.
