Driver leads police on 45 minute chase to his mom's house

It started around 12:30 a.m. Thursday when a police officer attempted to pull the driver over for a routine traffic violation.

Instead of stopping, the man sped off, leading police on a 45 minute chase.

As the driver approached Harris County, several other departments joined in the pursuit, including state troopers and officers from the Katy Police Department and the Houston Police Department.  Two helicopters were also involved in the chase.

Eventually the driver exited on Airtex Boulevard and turned into the Remington Ranch subdivision, where he finally stopped in the front yard of a home.

He ran inside and upstairs, police said, where officers finally managed to take him into custody.

Police said the home and car both turned out to belong to the suspect's mother.

It's still not clear why the man drove off in the first place, investigators said.
