HOUSTON -

A sedan going the wrong way in a HOV inbound lane on the Southwest Freeway hit a motorcyclist on Monday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

The crash happened at Hillcroft in southwest Houston about 8:15 a.m.

A sport utility vehicle swerved out of the way of the sedan before the sedan and motorcycle collided.

"We were driving up and I saw the headlights coming this way," said Scott McCommon. "We ride this every day for about four years so we've seen it all."

The motorcyclist was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition. He wasn't wearing a helmet, said police.

The crash delayed drivers up to an hour as police investigated.
