HOUSTON - A mother has been accused of leaving her child in a car while she was in a bar.

Amy Dawn Cooney, 32, has been charged with endangering a child.

Cooney was arrested at Texas Joe's Pub in the 11000 block of Fuqua at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.

According to court documents, Cooney was standing in line for the ladies room when she mentioned to an acquaintance that her 3-month-old son was in her car.

The other woman asked to see him and Cooney took her out to the car and opened the door.

The other woman immediately took the baby and carried him to a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy who was working off-duty security at the club.

The deputy arrested Cooney and called the Houston Police Department.

The baby is in the care of his grandmother.
