HOUSTON -

A man has been charged after a teenager was killed in a crash in southeast Houston.

Houston police said Filiberto Vega, 19, was speeding when he lost control of his truck at Swiftwater near Randolph around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

The truck went off the road, hit a series of mailboxes and flipped into the ditch, according to Houston police.

Investigators said a 17-year-old girl was riding in the truck. She died at the scene.

Vega was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Police determined Vega was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
