HOUSTON -

Police said a valet driver caused a deadly car accident in southwest Houston.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, investigators said a valet driver for the Corner Table restaurant was moving a BMW from the parking lot.  According to reports, he pulled onto Westheimer and made a right turn from the left lane, turning in front of a motorcycle rider.

Police said that turn forced the motorcycle rider to slide into the side of the BMW. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to investigators, but suffered a severe wound to the chest.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His name was not immediately released.

Houston police said the valet driver was not intoxicated at the time of the crash, but referred the case to the District Attorney for any possible charges.
