A Houston police officer is being checked out at the hospital after a patrol unit collided with a METRO light rail train in southeast Houston.
The officer was headed to a call with flashing lights on just before midnight when the SUV crashed into an oncoming train in the 500 block of York.

The METRO train driver was not hurt. The two passengers on board left before officers arrived.
The officer was not injured, but was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
