According to reports, the officers approached the suspect to arrest him, but he resisted and a fight began. Apparently the suspect tried to grab one of the officer's Taser and gun. At one point, a female officer became pinned between a car door and the patrol car. Fearing for her life and his own, the other officer shot at the thief.

The suspect, later identified as 17-year-old Demontre Bridges, suffered a graze wound to his chest.

Bridges took off running and officers called for backup.

Police said a K-9 unit arrived and located Bridges inside the apartment complex.

Bridges was treated at a nearby hospital.

He faces charged of attempting to disarm a police officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest. The charges were being filed by the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office.
