Houston police are searching for hit-and-run driver who caused a crash on the Beltway 8 feeder road in southwest Houston.

According to investigators, it was midnight Friday when a man driving a pickup truck ran a red light while traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway at the Beltway 8 feeder road.

Police said the pickup slammed into the victim's car, trapping the victim inside.

As the victim waited for help, police said, the driver of the pickup got out of the truck and ran from the scene.

Firefighters said they had to use tools to cut the victim out of the car. They said the victim had a broken leg and other injuries.

Investigators worked for hours collecting evidence from the hit-and-run driver's truck.  

Police are hoping fingerprints, DNA and other evidence will lead them to him.
