HPD: Pharmacy burglar dressed as ninja

Thief made hole in roof to get inside southwest Houston Walgreens

HOUSTON – A man dressed like a ninja broke into a southwest Houston pharmacy early Friday morning, according to police.

Officials said a burglar alarm alerted police to the Walgreens store on Woodway Drive and Chimney Rock Road around 4 a.m. Friday.

After searching the building, officers found no sign of entry.

Police called in a Houston Fire Department ladder truck so they could inspect the roof.

Officers found that the burglar bored a hole in the roof to get inside, and then used a rope to climb in through the ceiling.

Surveillance video showed the man shimmying under the security gate around the pharmacy.

Officials said he took an unknown amount of Hydrocodone and other drugs, then used the rope and shelves to climb out and get away.

Police said that the suspect, dressed in all black ninja-type clothing, acted methodically, professional and practiced.
