HOUSTON -

A disturbance call ended with an officer opening fire at an apartment complex in northwest Houston.

Officials said just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, police arrived at the Golden Bamboo Village Apartments on Mills Road.

Upon arrival, Houston police said they found a woman crying outside in a stairwell. When officers approached the woman, they said a man came running towards them with a knife.

Police asked the man to drop the knife, but the suspect refused. That’s when an officer shot the man twice – once in the wrist and once in the leg.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
