HPD: Man walking on street killed by gunman in truck

Witnesses say the shooter or shooters were inside a black truck

HOUSTON – A man walking on the street was killed in a drive-by shooting in northwest Harris County.

Investigators said two men in a black F-150 pickup truck pulled up beside the victim as he walked in the 1400 block of Tarberry and Damascus Sunday shortly before 8:30 p.m. They said two people were in the truck and at least one opened fire on the victim.

"We had a gentleman walking down the street. A black Ford pickup truck, newer model, pulled up next to him, shot him and was seen fleeing eastbound on Tarberry," said Mohammad Khan with the Houston Police Department.

The victim died at the scene. His name was not released but officials said he lived in the neighborhood. Investigators said the man may have just left his mother's house.

The shooter escaped.

A motive is not yet known.
