HOUSTON - A man went to a clothing store to confess to stealing and ended up going to jail, detectives said.
Douglas Sangster, 53, has been charged with theft.
Houston police Sangster stole $6,000 worth of merchandise, including two scarves, nine sweaters and 32 shirts from various Jos. A. Bank clothing stores during a two-week period in December.
Sangster went to a location in the 4000 block of Westheimer on Wednesday because he felt guilty and wanted to return the merchandise, investigators said.
The store decided to press charges. Sangster was released from jail after posting $2,000 bond.
