HOUSTON -

Police are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed a man at a southwest Houston apartment complex Monday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were called to an apartment at the Avalon at Royal Oaks apartments on Southlake Drive near Westheimer Road around 3:45 a.m.

The victim was found inside a first floor apartment and died at the scene. He has been identified as 33-year-old Timothy Royal Duncan.

According to police, a woman was also inside the apartment at the time of the shooting but survived.

"We discovered that approximately four to five males kicked in the door and entered the apartment looking for money. We don't have any other leads," said John Parker with the Houston Police Department's homicide unit.

Parker said the four to five gunmen, described only as black men, were wearing masks and were last seen on foot. He declined to speculate about a possible motive.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Houston Police homicide investigators or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
