HPD: Man points gun in road-rage confrontation

David Charles Patronella charged with aggravated assault

HOUSTON – Frustration on a busy road turned criminal.

Houston police said David Charles Patronella, 56, was tailgating a 21-year-old driver in west Houston on Sept. 28.

The 21-year-old driver, who did not want to be identified, said Patronella confronted him on Westheimer near Briargreen.

"I don't know what he was doing," the driver said. "He was just looking at me really weird, so I roll down the window to talk to the dude and he puts the gun … so I take off."

The driver said he ended up following Patronella because he wanted to help police identify him.

Patronella has been charged with aggravated assault. He has not been taken into custody, but there is a warrant out for his arrest.
