HOUSTON -

Police have arrested a man who jumped in a bayou to avoid capture.

Officers with the Houston Police Department said they were chasing a man in connection to a robbery in southeast Houston.

According to police, the man jumped in the Sims Bayou to try to get away.

Officers said the suspect threatened to kill himself, but gave up and got out of the bayou.

He was taken to the hospital as a precaution because he was in the cold water for a long period of time.

Charges are pending on the suspect.
