HPD: Husband kills wife at work, himself at home

Helen Thomas killed at Grocers Supply

HOUSTON – A man killed himself after shooting and killing his wife, a security guard at a grocery supply company, investigators said.

Houston police said Helen Thomas, 31, was killed around 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Grocer's Supply on Holcombe Boulevard and Old Spanish Trail.

Police said Carl Jackson, 37, pulled up to the store driving the tractor portion of a tractor-trailer. As Thomas was checking a vehicle, police said Jackson pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots at Thomas.

As she started to run away, police said Jackson kept shooting at her, even after she fell to the ground.

Jackson jumped back in his truck and drove off. Police said surveillance cameras captured the incident on video.

Police said after leaving the grocery supply company, Jackson took his own life at home.

Detectives said Thomas and Jackson were having problems. It is not clear how long the two were married.

The couple had a young child together. Police said the child is with relatives and was not in the home at the time, nor did he witness the murder of his mother.
