HPD: Homeowner shoots robbers; 1 dead

HOUSTON – Houston police said a homeowner shot two suspected home intruders and one was killed.

The shooting happened Thursday about 6:15 p.m. on Tuam Street near St. Emanuel in southeast Houston.

Investigators said two men broke the glass out of a townhome and went inside. Police said the homeowner then grabbed his gun and fired several rounds. Both suspects were hit, officials said.

Investigators said the two men took off and there was a trail of blood leading across Tuam street to where one man died.

Police said they found the getaway car, a gold Jaguar, not far away on Calumet Street. The man in that car was rushed to the hospital.

Investigators treated this as an aggravated robbery case.
