A drunk driver triggered a series of crashes in north Houston and had to be taken to the hospital, according to police.
Around midnight Friday, officers said an intoxicated man driving a pickup was headed west on Woodson at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the truck and crashed into a parked pickup. The force of the impact pushed the second truck into a car parked behind it, then into a company cargo van parked in a driveway.
HFD arrived at the scene, and had to remove the driver from the truck.
"His driver door wouldn't open up," said Sergeant Arthur Semein, with the Houston Police Department. "They had to extricate him out of the driver's door."
Emergency crews transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
Police said the driver who caused the accident admitted he had been drinking at the time of the crash and did not have insurance. His name was not immediately released.
