HPD: Driver who led police on chase said he was having a bad day

Headline Goes Here

HOUSTON - A DPS trooper tried to pull over an SUV on the Katy Freeway and Highway 6, but the driver took off. He went all the way to downtown Houston and then on the north side.

Houston police were called out to help with the chase and put down spike strips. The suspect slid into a grassy area off the side of the freeway and refused to come out, so a police dog went after him.

He suffered a dog bite, and was taken into custody.

Officers say he told them he fled because he was having a bad day.
