HOUSTON -

A chase started after a driver sped by a parked police cruiser in northeast Houston, police said.

It all started around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say the parked officer started following the speeding vehicle and a chase ensued.

The speeder got off on the Eastex Freeway feeder road at Tidwell and hit another passenger vehicle and a parked taxi cab.

Officials say three people, including two children, were in the first vehicle that was hit. The cab driver was the only person in that vehicle.

According to Houston police, the speeder was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three people in the other vehicle were also taken to a hospital as a precaution.

No word yet on what charges the driver will face.
