Houston police are still searching for two men who caused a wild scene in southwest Houston early Tuesday.
Just after 12:45 a.m., police said they spotted a suspicious vehicle near Bissonnet Street and the Southwest Freeway.
"The officers were in the area, observed the vehicle and ran the license plate and determined it had been stolen in the last couple of days," HPD's Lt. Larry Crowson said.
He said the officer started chasing the car. At some point during the pursuit, the driver turned the wrong way onto the Southwest Freeway feeder road at Gessner Road.
Police said they left the car running in drive, bailed out of the car, and ran in the opposite direction on Braes Bayou.
The car kept going, eventually crashing into a responding patrol car and another vehicle headed northbound.
"There was minor damage to both vehicles, but there were no injuries," Crowson said.
He said during a foot chase, one of the theft suspects actually ran along a bayou and onto a nearby golf course. He said the other ran in the opposite direction.
At one point during the foot pursuit, two officers ended up in the water damaging all of their electronic equipment.
Neither suspect was found, police said.
