Massive gator caught on golf course in Richmond

RICHMOND, Texas – It was an interesting afternoon at one golf course in Richmond when an alligator decided to rest at hole 17.

Golfers at the River Pointe Golf Course at 11207 FM 2759 see gators all the time, but this one, nicknamed "Chubby," was a little too big.

"He looks stout," said John Self, who was golfing with friends when he spotted the gator.

Management decided to call Christy Kroboth, of the Gator Squad.

Armed with their equipment, Kroboth and her partner in crime Chris set out for hole 17 to nab the gator.
Kroboth said the 800-pounder is about 12 feet long.

As they tried to reel it out from a pond, golfers stopped their carts and took pictures.
At one point the situation got a bit dicey when it appeared Chubby got the best of Kroboth's rod.

"I thought he was going to pull her in," Self said.
