Houston's Final Four Fan Fest is a hit

HOUSTON – It was a slam dunk in the George R. Brown Convention Center for the Final Four Fan Fest starting Friday.

Basketball greats, like Houston's own Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, signed autographs for fans who waited hours in line.

Nearby, a future superstar was in the works.

“It's fun,” said Lyris, from New York.

He was the first to show his skills on the court Friday

“There's so many things for the kids, so we wanted to make sure he got to experience this,” said Lyris' dad, Jerome Robinson.

The Fan Fest had other sports for children to try, including hockey, soccer, golf and football.

For families, it was an experience to remember.

“It brings chills, because you never know what could happen. These experiences can lead to a lot bigger things,” said Jerome Robinson.

Fan Fest was open through Monday.
