HOUSTON – Americans and Houstonians are still talking about First Lady Michelle Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night.
Political pundits said the First Lady delivered a passionate speech and made the case for her husband's reelection while acknowledging he hasn't accomplished everything he promised.
"So in the end, for Barack, these issues aren't political, they're personal. Because Barack knows what it means when a family struggles. He knows what it means to want something more for your kids and grandkids. Barack knows the American Dream because he's lived it… and he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we're from, or what we look like, or who we love. And he believes that when you've worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity… you do not slam it shut behind you… you reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed," the First Lady said.
We asked Houstonians to grade the First Lady on style and substance.
Some gave her an 'A'.
"She hit all the bases that she was supposed to hit in terms of support for her husband," said Dr. Franklin Jones with Texas Southern University's Department of Political Science
Republicans wrapped up their convention last week, but many supporters of Governor Romney were also glued to the First Lady's speech.
"I thought it was a good political speech, but it didn't measure up to Ann Romney. I thought we could learn more from her speech since she had never given one before," Michael Wolfe, a Harris County Republican said.
President Obama will speak at the DNC Thursday night.
