Houston welcomes Lufthansa A380

World's largest aircraft scheduled to arrive from Germany

HOUSTON – Houston is set to welcome the world's largest passenger aircraft on Wednesday.

The Lufthansa A380 will land at George Bush Intercontinental Airport from Frankfurt, Germany.

The aircraft holds up to 526 passengers.

An A380 Houston Party will be held on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at FM 1960 just east of Farell Road.

Guests will have a view of the plane landing on the runway.

The celebration will also include chances to win prizes, including two trips to Germany on board the A380.

To be eligible for the grand prize, contestants must be 18 years or older and cannot be City of Houston employees.

There will be several contests, including a yodeling contest, luggage packing contest, Lederhosen costume contest, and a Foursquare Check-in contest.
