Houston teen expected to survive after near drowning

HOUSTON – Two weeks after nearly drowning while on vacation, a Houston teen is expected to fully recover.

It was a close call for Jake Blackmon.

He was at Lake Tahoe with a friend when he slipped under the water.

A nurse happened to be paddle boarding nearby. He dove 20 feet, pulled Jake off the bottom of the lake and began giving him CPR.

When Jake's parents got the call about what happened, they didn't know if their son would survive.

He was flown back to Houston on Friday. Doctors say his comeback has been remarkable.
