HOUSTON – Prom season is just around the corner and with the big dance comes a big price tag. There is one store in Houston where you can find fancy dresses for less.
The store is called "New for the Night."
Zoe Reyes is looking for a new dress for her prom at Pasadena Memorial High School.
Her mom, Linday Reyes, said for girls, those final high school days are expensive. Finding a place where her daughter can have that dream dress, even if it is just for the night, saves a lot of money.
"I was thrilled to find out that they are renting gowns," said Linday.
Prices for the dresses range from $40 to $200 and each dress is dry cleaned before it's rented.
"Whatever the retail price of the dress is what we base our rental prices on," according to general manager Shireen Hadi.
Hadi said the dresses don't get old because they're usually sold at the end of each season. So if you loved the rental, you can come back and buy it for a fraction of the retail cost.
"We do 10 to 15 percent of the retail price for the rental price, then we add on the dry cleaning fee," Hadi explained.
The dresses range from dressy to formal and they're made by high-end designers. Sizes range from 0 to 12.
