Houston Starbucks donating to charity

Profit sharing will benefit the Association for the advancement of Mexican Americans

HOUSTON – For the hundreds of Houstonians who get their coffee at a southeast Houston Starbucks, they will now be helping the community.

The Seattle-based company will contribute funds based on performance of the coffee shop. The Gulfgate Center Mall Starbucks will give its funds to the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans.

According to Starbuck's website, the Gulfgate location will donate at least $100,000.

"I know here in this community, they're looking for ways to reach out and connect with people and I love that," said customer Tommy Jones.

The company's other profit sharing stores are in New York's Harlem neighborhood and in the Crenshaw area of Los Angeles.
