Houston schools visit NFL Experience

More than 1,000 children from Houston-area elementary schools visited the NFL Experience on Wednesday.

It was part of the NFL Play 60 Kids Day, aimed at helping children get 60 minutes of exercise each day.

The children spent time checking out new technology, looking at Super Bowl rings and hanging out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They even had a chance to meet Texans mascot, Toro.

"I pay attention in class and I do my work,” said Law Elementary student Rebert Mack.

“It brings me to tears because some of our kids don't get the chance to experience events like this and the kids are having a ball,” said Law Elementary teacher Veronique Williams.

"There's so much here to do and it's just amazing. I like it. We just barely walked in the door and the kids are so excited and running around and taking pictures with the little mannequins so they can look like football players. That's awesome,” said mother Tocia Daugereaux.

The day ended with a bang, as Grammy Award winner Jordin Sparks sang one of her hits and talked about the importance of exercising.

"I love kids. Anything, that we can do to encourage them, to lift them up, to instill positivity, I'm all for,” said Sparks.

Several Houston Texans players and the cheerleaders also took part in the event.
