HOUSTON -

The 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is underway, with the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Cook-off kicking things off Thursday night.

Hundreds of contestants are taking part, and the people attending know it's all about the food.

"Everything is awesome. I love it," said Megan Marroquin, of Houston. "Potato salad. Brisket. Brisket. Brisket sandwiches! Awesome."

Organizers had predicted that nearly 35,000 people would attend the first night of the cookoff,; more than 200,000 are expected over the entire three-day event.

We can't imagine the food would not be a draw, but if you're looking for something else out at Reliant Park, the music might do it.

Sponsor tents feature live music with several acts set for the big stage on this first night alone.

"The music is amazing. It is amazing," said Marroquin. "There's live music, there's DJs. It's all a great eclectic group of people out here."

Last year, nearly 265,000 people turned out for the three-day cookoff.

Attendance has increased every year for the past six years and cookoff organizers certainly hope the trend continues this year.
