HOUSTON -

If you're thinking of buying a home, act quickly, Houston has one of the fastest-moving housing markets in the nation.

That's according to a new report by Zip Realty.

The median number of days a house stays on the market is only 17.

That compares  to the national median of 29 days.

Zip Realty looked at 25 major markets across the country and Houston tied Seattle as the fourth fastest-moving market.

Austin topped the list at 10 days, followed by Washington, D.C., Dallas, Portland and Denver.

This data is representative of a larger national trend.

It's a sellers market in housing as demand exceeds supply.

In Houston, the median sales price for a home increased 12 percent since last year to $215,000.
