HOUSTON – Professor Joe Barnes has spent much of his life as a career state department diplomat in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and south Asia. He currently serves as a Bonner Means Baker Fellow at the Baker Institute at Rice University. He speaks with Khambrel Marshall about the challenges facing the United States in Iraq and other areas of the Middle East including a very grim assessment for any kind of solution in the Israel-Hamas conflict. It's very insightful information about possible impacts to the Houston-based energy companies.

Also this week, Mathew Knowles, the father of Beyonce and Solange Knowles talks about his evolution from stage parent to manager of one of the world's biggest stars and what it takes for others to get into the entertainment business. His one-day conference at Houston Community College in September is called "The Entertainment Industry: How do I get in?"

Knowles also talks about his famous daughters, the pros and cons of the media spotlight and the backlash from the now infamous elevator incident involving Solange and son-in-law Jay-Z.
