A Houston man has been convicted by a Fort Bend County jury on an injury to elderly charge.

According to the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, Cliffton Johnson, 32, was found guilty of knocking his 82-year-old grandfather to the ground during a disturbance earlier this year.

Prosecutors said Johnson got into an altercation with many of the people at his family member’s home.  Johnson and his grandfather were standing alone as the grandfather tried to calm his grandson down. That’s when Johnson hit his grandfather causing him to fall to the ground.

A jury convicted Johnson of an injury to the elderly on Wednesday.

A judge then sentenced Johnson to three years in prison. He faced up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
