A Houston man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run accident from Christmas Eve.
The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said deputies responded to the 7200 block of FM 1960 around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 24
Upon arrival, authorities said they found the body of a 22-year-old woman lying in the road.
Investigators determined the victim was hit by a vehicle and the driver did not stop to help her.
Authorities recreated the scene and were able to establish a sequence of events for the deadly auto-pedestrian crash.
After gathering information for more than a month, investigators presented their evidence and charges to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office on Jan. 27.
Deputies filed a charge of failure to stop and render aid involving a death against Ronald Rhea, 66.
“Our accident investigators never let up on this case, and with the evidence gathered were able to file the criminal charges,” said Asst. Chief Mark Herman with Precinct 4.
Rhea was charged and released on a $20,000 bond.
