According to the Humane Society, someone is mailing out fake letters claiming to be from the organization.
The letters claim to be from Houston Humane Society's Animal Cruelty Team, but they are not.
When you read the letter it appears to accuse the person receiving it of having animals on their property that aren't being cared for and suggests the Humane Society will be investigating.
The Humane Society said it does not mail out warning letters like this. A spokesperson told Local 2's Amy Davis that animal cruelty allegations are investigated in person by an officer in uniform, in a marked vehicle.
The spokesperson wasn't sure why someone would be mailing fake letters.
The Humane Society is still trying to track down where the letters are coming from.
