HOUSTON -

The Houston Food Bank is celebrating a big gift this holiday season.  

Friday the Houston Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association (HFFVA) donated 2.5 million pounds of fresh fruits and other vegetables.

The donation is equivalent to 5.5 servings of fresh produce for each person in need of food in the Houston area.

For the last 26 years, th Houston Food Bank has received a generous "Gift of Produce" from HFFVA.

HFFVA is nationally recognized professional organization with members who are produce retailers, wholesalers, growers and shippers.

Over the years the annual gift of produce has brought in more than 24.85 million pounds of produce.

Food Town has also committed to donate $25,000 this year to the Houston Food Bank.
