HOUSTON – The Houston Cinema Arts Festival is underway, bringing unique film and arts experiences to the community, including a 360 virtual reality cinema, a film with live narration and a short film competition using NASA imagery.
There are dozens of opportunities to catch films and performances all weekend into Monday.
On Saturday, six short films all shot in 360 VR will be shown throughout the day. The audience can use VR goggles for this experience.
"The Price of Everything" is a documentary that examines the current trends of modern art for the art market, and how art is being appraised and valued. It features collectors, dealers, auctioneers and a rich range of artists.
Also on Saturday, Cine Space filmmakers are in town from all over the world. They are part of a short film competition that requires integrating NASA imagery into the film.
On Sunday, a unique film experience will look at the past, present and future of the Kronos Quartet, the Grammy-winning string quartet. As the documentary "A Thousand Thoughts" is presented, there will be live music and narration.
On Monday, the public can see the film "Green Box," about an unlikely friendship between a black jazz artist and Italian bouncer and driver taking place during the 1960s in the South. The film won the Toronto People's Choice Award last year.
