HOUMA, La. – A small town southwest of New Orleans isn't take any chances with Hurricane Isaac.
Residents boarded up their homes and businesses before Isaac makes landfall.
Sand bags were stacked along the coast to help keep floodwaters at bay.
Some residents were having a hard time finding last-minute supplies at stores.
"If you're going to stay, just prepare yourself. Get everything you need. If you're staying here past 3 or 4 o'clock, you better have everything you need," resident Richard Boone said.
"We've boarded up. We have extra supplies in the store. We have ice. We are trying to get the gas now," said Virginia Smith, a gas station manager.
Winds in the Houma area, which is about 50 miles from New Orleans, could reach 90 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
