Veterans Day freebies

Many businesses are extending a big thank you to our veterans and active military service members today starting with breakfast!

Houston on the Cheap helped find great deals for you!

You can get a free build your own Grand Slam at Denny's from 5am to noon.
 
At IHOP you can get a free stack of red, white, and blue pancakes from 7am to 7pm too.

In the mood for lunch instead? You can choose your free meal from one of seven entrees at Applebee's.

At California Pizza Kitchen pick your freebie from several pizza options on their Veterans Day menu.

Service members can also head over to Chili's for their free meal. Chili's estimates it will serve more than 300,000 free meals on Veterans Day this year.

Here are other great places for veterans to get free food, services and events:

Beck's Prime: Beck's Prime is giving a free hamburger or sandwich to veterans or active military with military ID.

Golden Corral: Golden Corral will provide a free dinner buffet and beverage from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., for Military Appreciation Night. This is for military heroes, past and present. Golden Corral has served more than 4.4 million free meals to military since it started Military Appreciation Monday 14 years ago.

Hooter's: Veterans and active military personnel get a free entree of their choice from the special menu November 11. Drink purchase required. Must present military ID or proof of military service.

Little Caesar's: The pizza chain is giving a free $5 Lunch Combo (4-slice pizza + 20 oz Pepsi product) to veterans  and active military.

LongHorn Steakhouse: Veterans and active military members will receive a complimentary Texas Tonion appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage with proof of service.

Ooh La La Dessert Boutique: Veterans can enjoy a free dessert or drink with a dessert purchase. Three Houston locations.

Olive Garden: Olive Garden will provide a free entrée from a special menu to active duty military and military veterans, which features six of the restaurant's most popular items. Guests also get unlimited homemade soup or salad and bread sticks. Folks dining at the table with the veteran get 10% off their meal.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt: Active and retired military personnel get a free cup of frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf , up to 11 oz.

Pappasito's: Active military and veterans can get a free appetizer with purchase of an entree.

Red Lobster: Active military and veterans can get a free appetizer or dessert from Red Lobster November 9-12 to thank them for their service.

Spaghetti Warehouse: The Italian eatery is encouraging folks to take a veteran to lunch or dinner for free with its Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupon. Order one of its 11 Spaghetti entrees or incredible 15-Layer Lasagna and receive a second one for free. Download the coupon from the Spaghetti Warehouse website, or show mobile version on phone.

Starbucks: Veterans, active duty service members and spouses can enjoy a free tall brewed coffee.

Steak N' Shake: Former servicemen and women are invited to a free breakfast skillet and coffee from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Texas Roadhouse: This Texas favorite is opening for lunch Wednesday, just to provide free meals to veterans, retired, and active military. These folks will get a free meal from a choice of 10, including a beverage (soda, tea or coffee). ID is required. Dine-in only.

Zydeco Kitchen: Veterans and active military get a free lunch off the Daily Special board. This is located at 1856 Barker Cypress Rd. off I-10.

Alamo Drafthouse: Veterans and active military can get a free movie ticket for a November 11 showing  at Alamo Drafthouse Vintage Park or Mason Park. The ticket must be purchased at the box office with military ID, not online. Check online for movies and times.

Bowlmor: Veterans can bowl two free games shoes included! Valid military ID required. Located at 925 Bunker Hill.

City of Houston: The City of Houston is hosting its annual Veteran's Day Salute. The 9 a.m. event at Houston City Hall (901 Bagby) features a Veteran's Job Fair, Health Fair, ceremony and parade. Free parking is available in the Theatre District parking, Tranquility Garage, entrances 2 and 5 only from 9 a.m. – 12:30 pm.

Hermann Park Railroad: Veterans and active duty military personnel can take a free ride on the Hermann Park Railroad , as a "thank you" for serving our country. Train rides are open 10 a.m. – 5 pm, weather permitting. Check in at the Kinder Train Station podium with military ID.

 

Houston Symphony: Active and reserve military, veterans and ROTC cadets can get 2 free tickets to the Houston Symphony's concert this weekend, Dvoák's Serenade for Strings, at Jones Hall. To get your 2 free tickets, just go to houstonsymphony.org and click on the November 12, November 14 or November 15 performance of Dvoák's Serenade for Strings and use promo code 15304. Tickets may also be reserved by phone or in person at Jones Hall (615 Louisiana Street) Monday through Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm.

All tickets reserved through the Web site will be available for pick up starting an hour-and-a-half before the concert begins at Will Call in front of Jones Hall. Patrons will need to show their Military ID or other form of photo documentation at Will Call or Patron Services Center to get their 2 free tickets.

Orangetheory Fitness: This local fitness franchise will offer free Orangetheory classes to veterans all day November 11. Veterans must show their military ID and call any of the Orangetheory Fitness locations in the greater Houston area: San Felipe, Sugar Land, Town and Country, Vintage Park and West University.

SportsClips: Veterans and active duty military can get a free haircut November 11 at participating SportsClips locations as part of Help a Hero 2015.
