Homicide investigators called to shooting in NE Houston

HOUSTON – Homicide investigators are on the scene of a deadly shooting in northeast Houston.

According to police, officers responded to a shots fired call near 2500 Russell Street around 2:20 pm.

Two blocks away, a man was found shot to death inside a dark blue sedan at the intersection of Russell Street and Harriman Street It's not yet clear if the victim was the driver or a passenger.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Jaylon Townsel.

Homicide investigators detained a 17-year-old man for questioning, however no charges have been filed at this time.
