HOUSTON -

Police said a homeowner ended up in a wrestling match with a shooting victim in north Houston.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, investigators said two men got into some sort of disturbance a short time before neighbors said they heard gunshots in the area.

A short time later, investigators said the shooting victim forced his way through the back door of a home on Tabor near Mathis.

The surprised homeowner wrestled with the victim before running out of the house and calling police, officials said.

When police arrived, investigators said the blood-covered victim stumbled out of the house and collapsed on the sidewalk.

He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said they're working to figure who shot the man.
