HOUSTON -

A homeowner in west Harris County shot a suspected burglar who neighbors said got greedy and came back for another load of stolen goods.

"I noticed somebody had broken in and I was in the house when he entered the property," the homeowner who wanted to remain anonymous said.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday on the 14700 block of Branchwest in the Branch Forest subdivision.

Neighbors reported three men had earlier broken into the man's home, stealing electronics and one of the man's guns.
He had a spare.

"Yeah, the other one I keep on me. He had stolen my wife's gun so I didn't know if he was armed or not," the man said.

The man did not wait to find out and opened fire on the suspected burglar.

That unidentified, injured suspect managed to escape to a nearby apartment complex, where he was found and transported to the hospital.

The man's condition was not immediately available, nor were the statuses of additional suspects.
