Homeowner shoots naked burglar

Houston police use Taser to subdue suspect

HOUSTON – A naked burglar in a car was shot by a homeowner and then shocked with a Taser gun by officers in southeast Houston on Monday, according to police.

Houston police said a woman spotted a burglar trying to break into her son's home on Tierwester at Lahall shortly after 8 a.m. The burglar drove into a gate on the driveway, officials said.

The woman called her son, Anthony Allen, who was inside the house. Allen ran outside to find the man, still in his car, which was pulled up to the back door of the home. The man was still revving his engine, driving forward and backward.

Allen ran back inside and grabbed two guns. He said he ran outside and yelled at the man to leave.

"He wouldn't stop," Allen said. "That's why I started shooting. It was just to stop him. I was really scared. I didn't know what he was going to do."

The man was wounded in the gunfire, investigators said.

"I have better aim than I used today," Allen said. "It wasn't that I wanted to harm him. I just didn't want him to get out of the car and think he was going to walk in."

Police arrived at the scene and told the suspect to get out of the car. Officers said when he got out of the vehicle, he was naked.

"He was naked as he could be," Allen said. "He didn't even have any clothes in the car."

Investigators said the man approached officers in a threatening manner, so officers used a Taser gun to subdue him.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
