Man dies after shots fired through northwest Harris County door

An argument led to a fatal shooting late Thursday night in northwest Harris County, according to deputies.

The shooting was reported about 11 p.m. at a home near the corner of Bexhill and Fallwood drives, about 8 miles northwest of Jersey Village.

Harris County deputies said that when detectives arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They said both were taken to a local hospital. They said the other person was treated and released. They said another person, who was inside the home at the time of the shooting, was not injured.

Austin Clay, the homeowner, said a shot ricocheted and hit him in the face and hand. He said his roommate, who is also his best friend, was killed.

"He was a good man," Clay said. "He didn't deserve this. He'd give you the shirt off his back, I'd like to say all cliche and everything. He's a good guy."

Deputies said it appears that shots were fired through the front door of the home.

The gunman is being sought.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.

Editor's note: Detectives originally said the person who died was the homeowner, but later retracted that statement.
