When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames pouring from the second floor of the home.

Firefighters said the fire was so intense that the roof of the house had caved in, so they made a defensive attack.

According to reports, it took several hours to get the flames under control.

The homeowner was inside when the fire broke out, but firefighters said he managed to get out safely.  Apparently his family has owned the home since the late 70s.

Arson units are investigating what caused the fire to start.
